Monster Hugs, and sneak peek!

Hi guys, today I am sharing with you the card that I made for the December Downline Meeting.

It’s so stinkin’ adorable, if I can say so myself…

Here it is:

Don’t you just LOVE that cute monster and how he is hugging the note…

Here is a view with the note open:

If you look closely, you can spy a new texture folder that will be available very soon!!!! It’s awesome!

A little word a bout the Monster Hugs cards… when I saw them first I thought I would not need them… I was thinking literally Valentine’s Day only… So wrong! If you wanted to use them for treats only, you can still give it to any occasion… even pet treats! But I really like that I can use them on cards too!

Here are the details for those little cuties:

And if you want some of them, get them NOW! They are only available until 1/27/14 or until supplies run out… They are a great value at $5.95 for 18 of them!

Santa-tizers

I always try to make a little gift for Christmas for my current stamp club members to show them my appreciation.

This year I came across these totally neat little hand sanitizers in a santa box (Original idea by fellow demo Jan Farring ). I just knew that’s what I wanted to make and bought the sanitizers. Then when I started to work on the first one, it hit me that this would be a LOT of scoring and cutting…etc.

So I am very excited to report that this did not make me change my plan but to put my thinking hat on! I had the measurements for  the box, I figured I’d try to make a template in the program to use with my electronic cutter. AND I was able to do that. YAY!!!!

I am sure I was only able to do that because it such a simple little box Winking smile

Look how cute this little army of boxes looks – work in progress:

Now let me show you the finished little box:

santatizer

I also know that not all of you have a cutter like that and might want to make one or a few yourself. So I took a screen shot of the template that has the numbers on it. See here:

santa box

In case the screen shot is to blurry, here is the info typed out!

Box:
Cut a piece of real red card stock 5 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Score lengthwise 2-1/4" and 3-1/4"
Turn your card stock and score again 1" and 2-1/2"

Belt:
Cut Basic Black Card Stock 5 1/2" x 3/4"
Attach to box with sticky strip tape.
Punch out a Petite Curly Label Punch from Silver Glimmer Paper.
Using a 1" Punch, punch out around the Petite Curly Label Punch

The word Santa-tizer, I’ve created in “My Digital Studio” and punched out with the word window punch (left aligned). Feel free to print those directly on our Whisper White CS from here

I hope this will inspire you to make some too… they are great little gifts!

Graduation Card

We needed a graduation card last night, and that is something I don’t have stamps for. I know, shame on me. BUT, with a little creativity and the help of my Silhouette Cameo, I was able to make this cutie:

20131209_164550

I sponged the edges with the ink from the silver encore ink pad…

Here is the inside view:

20131209_164607

And there is of course a stamped image Winking smile

But what I really wanted to point out, is the “Check Bar”, you know like a towel bar… It’s a strip of Cardstock taped to inside of card. But adhesive was applied only to outer edges so the check would fit perfectly and not slide from left to right. I got this check holder idea from my downline Kathy and couldn’t wait to use it. I think it’s a little classier than just putting a check in a card…

Hope you like it too.

Parade of Paper Wreaths

I think 2 month ago I held a class on how to make the pretty paper wreaths that can be seen everywhere lately.

They are so very easy to make, so I thought I’d share so you can still make one too… so scroll down below the pictures!

Here is my Fall Wreath:

wreath1

Here is my Winter Wreath:

wreath2b

And here is the one we made at last month’s downline meeting:

dl wreath1

Supplies used:

- 12 inch Foam Wreath

- 12x12 Designer Series Paper (6 sheets)

- 12 inch Paper Trimmer

- Bonefolder

- Straight Pins

- Rhinestones/Pearls/Buttons

- 2 sizes of framelits to create base for decoration

- Glimmer Paper, Cardstock, framelits/dies, bakers twine, dimensionals

Tips:

- I find it works best to do a little prep work: I have some of the straight pins sticking in the bottom of my wreath, or you can use a pin cushion

1381760_10152332015329741_585469411_n

- Cut all 6 sheets of DSP into 1/2 inch wide strips so that that they are 12 by 1/2

- I prefer to have them in individual stacks in front of me

(easier when having to decide what pattern to use)

- Pick up a strip of DSP and hold it in on hand by the middle, then take your bonefolder and start at that middle point to curl it like gift ribbon, flip and do the same to the other side. Sometimes it seems as if the paper didn't curl good enough, but you can sort of wind it by hand!

- Take a straight pin and insert into middle part of DSP and then push into foam wreath

- Repeat (but don't cover back of wreath)... until you only have an opening for the decoration. Make sure to have a few extra strips so you can fill in around the label if needed

- Smaller CS framelit shape was added to wreath with 3-4 straight pins, larger CS framelit shape was added over it with dimensionals. Decoration was added. DONE!

Now go and make one for yourself or as a gift…

Holiday crafting with the crew

We’ve spent the afternoon amongst our friends and the guys were going to watch football… and most of you know how I feel about that… LOL … So I started a new tradition - The ladies are crafting together!

And now I am going to share the holiday crafts we made that day!

1) Crayon Drip Holiday Ornament by Miranda

crayon ornament

I thought that was just too clever! You can see some instructions here!

2) “Artichoke” Glass Ornament, by Claudia

artichoke ornament

You basically need a glass/plastic ornament, 60-90 (YES!) 1” paper circles and mini glue dots or hot glue. You’ll start on the bottom of the ornament where it has somewhat of a flat spot and glue the first circle down. Then you’ll just add rows of circles until it’s completely covered…

3) Decoupage Ornament by Melissa

decoupage ornament

She brought different shapes of Kraft ornaments, Modge Podge and several different sheets of tissue paper. I tor my tissue papers in smaller pieces, covered the ornament with Modge Podge and added the paper while adding more Modge Podge over them. I should have let it dry, BUT the clear chunky glitter was calling my name and I just rolled it in the glitter Smile

4) Sparkle Votive by Miranda

glitter glass

She brought stickers and Modge Podge and different glitters where we could make designs or patterns on the votives. But I had some retired blue glass glitter left over and could not resist. It’s VERY sparkly!

5) Mixed Media Magnet by Windi

magnet

Windi brought small canvas pieces, clay buttons, burlap pieces, ribbon, Holiday pieces to use for decoration and super glue… While we had said Holiday decoration, I was instantly drawn to this cute fabric owl and cut her out for my magnet (so mine is not Christmassy but that means I can keep it out all year!). Also, I used hot glue, because super glue scares me a little LOL

6) Paperback Book Christmas Tree by Claudia

paperback tree

I saw some on Pinterest a while ago and knew that I wanted to make some. They are not hard to do, you can see instructions here…I “only” used 150 pages. After the tree was folded, I’ve brushed Modge Podges over the ridges of the pages and sprinkled chunky glitter on it. Gold Trim, Ornament topper and upside down votive were glued on with hot glue.

I think all the projects were cool AND we had a great time while crafting and chatting with each other… Can’t wait for next year!

See here:

sandy

Congratulations go to Sandy Campbell!!! She is part of the Monday #2 club. Now I have to tell you a secret! She told me me when she turned the card in that she literally made that card right before heading out to club that night Winking smile  Not bad I’d say for last minute creativity. Great job, Sandy!

Thanks to all that participated and also to those that showed their support by voting!
