Magnetic Note Board

Today is going to be a really short post, since I am on my way out the door…

I wanted to share a gift with you that I made last week. This is to show you how easy you can “dress up” some of the items found at Target and the “expensive store”.

Here you go:

I used “MDS” to create the title. The letters are actual digital punches, which means you can fill them with DSP, color or photos.

I used DSP and then printed it in Whisper White CS, cut it into a strip and adhered to the magnetic board with clear Vinyl (also from the SU catalog!)

The ribbon and the 2 flowers on the top are strategically places so the seem of the CS strip won’t show!

The Flower are sponged and, of course, shimmer sprayed

You should give it a try yourself…If you don’t have MDS and not interested in it, you can always stamp the letters or die cut them!

Falling Leaves

It’s that time of year that we get to see lots of leaves and they are so pretty when they change colors. So I think was a little inspired by that when I created this little gift:

I used the Sizzix die Leaves #2 and die cut a whole bunch of them in Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede and Cajun Craze. Then I shimmer sprayed them and crumbled them up. I opened them back up and let air dry.

The wooden frame was painted first before I attached the leaves (ONE by ONE) with hot glue. The funny part is, that acrylic paint I had was way to light, so I added a little Early Espresso re-inker to that and wouldn’t you know it… it turned out be be just like Soft Suede!

This is actually a very easy project and could be a special gift or your own seasonal home décor!

Flowers that will never wilt

For my stamp club hostess I had a very special flower to offer.

Here it is:

I started out with a cheapy pen and cover it with DSP:

Then I made my pretty flower topper. Look at the tons of layers:

I’ve used a button and brad for the center, but you can also fill it in completely with smaller flower punches that are cut in and made fluffy!

I didn’t want to attach the topper permanently to the pen… in case you wanted to put in a new mine, you can take the top off:

This way this flower will NEVER wilt. These are actually pretty easy to make! Just a lot of curling …

These make great gifts AND you know they can’t “walk off” as easy as regular pens, because they don’t fit into a pocket *hehehe*. May have to make some for my craft room!

Beautiful Butterflies Notepads and a Convention Special

… are so much fun to make and are really easy too… and leave alone the CUTE factor

This month, I let my stamp club hostesses pick from a basket of merchandise or the note pad.

All chose this:

I used the new In-Color Calypso Coral along with the DSP “Paisley Petals”.

I did some sponging and of course used some shimmer spray (you may need to click on the photo to see that detail).

The dies needed to make this project, are: the clear Scallop Square die (#115950 $21.95) and the “Beautiful Butterlies” die (#114507 $21.95).

Beautiful Butterfly Notes

Since the stamp club meetings are over now, I can finally share my hostess gifts for this month…

I gave my ladies a set of little Butterfly note cards wit envelopes:

I’ve used the DSP “Greenhouse Gala” since I am trying to use up some of my stash. But the upcoming class (in June!) on this will use the new DSP “Beyond the Garden” from the Summer Mini Catalog. And of course I’ll be using CS from the Brights Collection. It’s very pretty!

Tote full of Notes

I wanted to share another neat hostess gift that I made for this month. I think it’s way cute, easy to make and I am pretty sure that we’ll have a class on this soon :-)

Here is the little “Tote”:

Don’t you just LOVE that double sided DSP?! It makes it so easy to coordinate… Of course I couldn’t go without using my favorite die, the “Fun Flowers” and some sponging and shimmer spray on the flower!

I’ve also made 6 Note cards to go inside. They each use an embossed background and strips of the “Greenhouse Gala” DSP, and the new Sneak Peek stamp set “Four Frames”.

Here are the cards (all similar but different):

 

I’ve used “Baja Breeze” CS for my card bases, white CS that was textured, DSP strips, a brad here and there and some ribbon to finish them off.

Don’t miss out out the special for this month! That stamp set is a must have, especially if you already own the “Decorative Label” Punch!

More Birds!

Well the other day I posted a card with a bird. And Adriane made the comment that she thought it was cute. Well you see, she was the hostess last night for the Monday stamp club, and I just knew what gift to make for her!

Here is the little card holder:

Note to those who took this class: See how I tied the knot on the short side! I think I like that better than my old way! But then, I guess it depends on how you decorate it?!

The little bird on the holder is from the “Itty Bitty Bits” stamp set! I’ve used my all time favorite die “Fun Flowers” and added a cute Fabric Designer Button to the center.

It came stocked with 6 cards in it. 2 of each color:

The DSP I’ve used is the free hostess level one pack. Colors used: Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Concord Crush. Stamp Set used is an oldie but goodie “Curvy Verses”. And white satin Ribbon and a pearl finish off the cards nicely.

February Hostess Gifts

Yesterday evening I had the last stamp club meeting for this month. And with that I now can share the hostess gifts I gave.

I made each hostess a Mini Magazine Holder with 6 note cards + envelopes inside:

When I started making the note cards, I made the textured layer 5 1/4 by 4 inches. But now decided with my last set, that I really like them best when that layer is 5 by 3 3/4 inches!

I’ve used several different embossing folders on the cards and they really are pretty elegant even though they are so simple.

I think I may hold a class next month on these, so stay tuned for the details!

Oh, one funny thing (or sweet!?) I wanted to share! At one of the events where I gave away one of the brown magazine holders, one of the ladies asked where she could find the pretty Designer Paper!  You see, it’s just plain cardstock that was randomly stamped in white craft ink with the branch image and in Early Espresso ink with the little butterfly from the “Sweet Summer” set. It is a FREE set in the Sale-a-Bration catalog!

Magnetic Photo Holder

Today I am going to share a quick little gift. I’ve used a piece of Designer Series Paper on top of a metal frame… added a ribbon and a glitter flower… Voila:

It’s quick and cute, and because nothing is glued down, just held by the magnetic hearts and flower, it can be changed out seasonally…

Santa’s Dishes?

Today I am sharing another Decor Element item with you. I simply applied them onto a plate and a cup. Granted, those dishes are more for decoration then actual use, but gentle hand cleansing should be just fine.

Here it is:

I think Santa would really love to get his snack served on them. So why don’t you make a set too?!

Frame #3

Can you believe it? We actually have some little snow flurries here in GA today! I am sure it won’t stay though…

To carry on with our Christmas decor series, I am going to show you frame #3 today:

Again, the background was created in “My Digital Studio” and the Christmas tree decor element was added to the outside of the glass.

Gotta love that wide striped ribbon! It’s PERFECT for items like that!

Frame #2

These posts are rather short and to the point, because I know you all are busy with Christmas preparations … And on to the 2nd frame we go – this was another hostess gift this month:

This is another example how to incorporate the “My Digital Studio” into every day crafting!

The polka dot background, label, sentiment and brads were created with the software and printed on my home printer. I then layered it onto Real Red CS, cut out a Top Note piece in Old Olive, cut it into half and adhered behind a white piece of CS, then layered onto the polka dot piece…

The decor elements stockings are applied to the outside of the glass for the shadow effect…

Back to baking some German Gingerbread (Lebkuchen)…

Decor Elements Frame #1

More Chalkboards

I needed some hostess gifts and just knew what I wanted to make… some more chalkboards, like the one for my stamp club hostesses seen in this post.

This time a made a smaller version (5x7) for the co-host lady and the regular (8x10) for the hostess.

Here is the first one:

And I wanted you to know that I made both of those in no time… using “My Digital Studio” yet again :-) There is NO stamping anywhere this time! But again it’s a hybrid… since I added ribbon and decor element chalk die cuts…

The Markers:

I’ve attached the marker with Velcro… I also cut another Top Note shape, but this time from felt and sort of draped over the ribbon in the back. This way the ladies can simply wet the felt shape and use it to erase the messages…
