Falling for Leaves - Copy the catalog

I came across a video from Stampin' Up! that showed how to make a card from the holiday catalog and thought it would be fun to re-create it... And I did that! Here is my card:

I tried to stay as close to the original as I could... I did not have the ribbon, so I added a narrow strip of Cardstock in Tranquil Tide under the Greeting..

I also stamped some additional images in Sahara Sand that were not on the original but felt I need them as I made my card just a little larger...

And lastly I added some splattering with the Sahara Sand marker... well... because I wanted to ;-)

Daisy Delight

Today's card came together fairly easy... I simply CASE'd a card from the catalog...

Of course it's slightly different...because I didn't have the ribbon and used DSP instead and the color of my flower is different too (I think the one in the catty was cut out by hand from the DSP?) The sample is on page 127.

But you don't have to copy exactly to the "t"... that's the fun thing about crafting and being creative... but at least the catalog gave me a starting point!

Catalog CASE

I've had one more page from my old catalog on my desk, begging me to be copied... so I listened! However...like most of the times, it's not an exact copy so I wonder if it should be called "inspired by"?  Well I'll let you be the judge of that.

Here is my card:

Not only did I use different stamp sets, but I also made my own "DSP banner" since I don't have it... I used the Gorgeous Grunge. It always comes handy! And for the cardbase I used Tip Top Taupe not Sahara Sand...

And even though my 4 1/4 square card could fit into a regular envelope, I decided to make one... since I have the matching envelope paper ;-)

I just got our new Basic Black Archival inkpad in and thought I'd give it a test run... so far I LIKE it!

I stamped on my grid paper and immediately swiped my hand across and it did not smear! That's a plus And it stamps a little darker than the memento inkpad... Of course I will try it for water coloring too one day!

(Old) Catalog Case, added a new color

Today I went back to one of the pages I had torn out of the OLD catalog so I could CASE a card I liked...which was this one:

I've changed it up ever so slightly... just because I was NOT in the mood for yellow today LOL... and I wanted to put my own spin on it... that's why I added the metallic thread in gold to the top right and silver dazzling details to the flowers.. see:

I hope you like my version and that this will inspire you to copy a card from the catalog too one day...

Fabulous Four... Inspiration

Today I decided to make a card that I wanted to CASE from the old catalog. But once I started out, it went a little bit different... and that's OK... we get inspirations from samples and just go with what our creativity tells us.

Here is my card:

This card is 4 1/4 square and will still fit into a regular invitation size envelope...

TIP: I've punched a tiny notch on the top and bottom of card where the baker's twine is placed so it will not slide off the card front...(the baker's twine is retired in Calypso Coral, but we have other colors you can use easily!)

Here is the inspiration piece:

ARGH, I totally wanted to round the corners on my card too, but now it's too late... already in an envelope and ready to mail out. Oh well.... I'll do that on another one in the future! Not to self...

And YES, I am using our awesome thick white cardstock for the cardbase AGAIN ;-)

Catalog CASE - Flower Shop

When I worked on projects for stamp club this month, I had to refer back to the OLD catalog to make sure I am not using something that was retired... And by doing that I actually paid more attention to the samples pictured.  I then copied a card for club with some changes of course... but thought I should start doing that more often. I have an extra copy of that catalog and will tear out just those pages that I want to either copy samples completely or use them as inspiration/ follow a sketch...

Oh and in case you can't remember... CASE = copy and share everything...

So I did just that again today. I copied a card on page 67 and made some small changes. Here is my card:

I did use new Designer Series Paper and ribbon, but still used the same flower stamp set as they used... I think this is a very sweet card and the layout could be used for lots of different stamp sets and occasions!
