Tough Challenge

This week was a really tough challenge. We were to use either photos or magazines on our cards. Well I just did not want to put a photo on my card and thought magazine pages shouldn't be to bad. I was thinking of how I could cut out flowers or other items and glitter them up and had fun just playing in my mind. BUT the reality hit and I don't have any magazine at the house. The only one I have is the "Real Simple" one, so I started looking and was totally disappointed, because (of course) there aren't many flowers in magazines right now.

So I started to think pattern or textures and found a page I knew I could work with:

Next I took the page and cut it down so I would have a piece big enough to use as background on my card. I was also determined to use my sewing machine this week, so I combined that into this challenge. Now, if you know me, you know that I am NOT a friend of sewing at all. But I am slowly warming up to the idea to use it on my cards.

I really do like the way this card turned out - even though I've used the same set as last week. But I just love "Baroque Motifs" and the magazine page just inspired me to use it again, sorry. Here it is:

I have learned one thing while sewing on this card. It's not such a good idea to emboss over the whole background that you are going to use the sewing machine on. The machine seems to get stuck ont the raised lines and I ended up sewing with the machine but manually by turnind the wheel on the majority of that layer. Whew!

  1. Very cool looking. I am always afraid I will ruin my sewing machine if I use it on paper. You did a super job on the challenge.

  2. Wow, now that was a creative use of a magazine photo. I would never have thought to just use a portion of the photo for a background. Love the embossing on it. This card has a nice shimmery look to it.
