Well from the minute I saw the shimmer paints in our Mini catalog I KNEW that I just HAD to have them! I only bought the Frost White so far and played with it. It looks awesome over cardstock that you've textured with one of the embossing folders... and very elegant if you simply "ink up" a stamp with it (I use a sponge dauber for that) and stamp on darker CS... very, very nice to ink up your stamp with regular classic ink first and then add some shimmer paint directly over that ink on the stamp before you stamp to paper... and you can also just add some "highlights", the same way: ink on stamp first, but apply shimmer paint only to portions like the tail of a bird.
Anyway, I didn't stop there! I thought I bet I can stamp on ceramic with it. Though it was a grand idea (in my mind), it's a little harder to carry out then I thought.
I again inked up a stamp in classic ink and then used the sponge dauber to apply shimmer paint over that, and stamped onto a ceramic soap dispenser. I thought if I simply heat set the images they would not come off. That sadly is not so! I am guessing that the classic ink in the mix prevents it from drying completely since it can't be absorbed. Or maybe it just needs to be heat set and then left alone over night?
I didn't want the pretty container to go to waste, and used an high gloss fixative to seal it all. So now it's OK to be touched! However it was a little time consuming, and may not be something one wants to do for several gifts.
Here it is:
It's hard to take a good picture due to the glare from the white glossy ceramic! I've tried to capture the shimmer in the next picture, but I am not sure you can tell:
Supplies used: "Serene Snowflakes", Brilliant Blue and Night of Navy Classic Inks, Frost White Shimmer Paint.
I may try that attempt again, but without the inks just to see if the shimmer paint will stay on a slick surface or not. I will keep you posted on that too!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sooo pretty Claudia! I can't wait to play with mine when they arrive Monday! {SMILES}
