The Open Sea

Today I am back with yet another sneak peek! My neighbor asked me several weeks ago to make her a big Congrats card. She needs it for her son and wanted something special… As it goes so often, you push out those “special” requests because you want to make sure it will come out just right.

Well yesterday I decided I HAD to finally work on it and decided I would do a hybrid card. The main reason really was to use MDS because I can use it to “design” my cards. And with a larger card, I wanted to see first.

So I designed the bottom layer (approx. 8 1/4 x 5 1/4) that was to be put on to the card (8 1/2 by 11, folded in half):

christa's son-002

I actually did that on my laptop and then just emailed to myself :-) and printed on my printer in the “office” aka craft room.

Then I cut it down, did some layering, added some brads, ribbon and popped up the main image and greeting:

The ship (sneak peek set called “The Open Sea” available next month along with the matching DSP in traditional goods and digital!) was stamped in Early Espresso CRAFT ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I’ve water colored in some blue below it, and “colored” the sails with the moonlight smooch paint. That’s very pretty, but I am not sure you can see it in either photo.

Here is the finished card:

I’m pretty happy with the end result and hope that Christa will it too.

Have a great Friday… I am off to teach some little “how to’s” in My Digital studio this morning… (this is a repeat of the class last month…)
