Hybrid Tree Card

The other day I came across a sketch provided by MaryJo. I used to play along every week and just got side-tracked… I really liked this layout A LOT!. So I saved it because I wanted to use it today.

Here is the layout:

And just like things go… time got away from me today…and I felt like I didn’t have enough time to get a nice card done.

BUT then I remembered that I could do all of the layering in “My Digital Studio”! Just like yesterday, I opened the software and had the sketch displayed in the photo section of the resource panel… and started to make my layers.

This is the “MDS” layer that I wanted for my card:

Then I stamped, colored in, sponged, distressed, punched and added ribbon and brads to make it a hybrid card. See how it turned out:

Here is a view from the side so you can see that the back layers are “flat” from MDS and only the tree layer is dimensional and “real” :

So I did change up the sketch a little on where the greeting went, but I had to because I wanted that tree layer a little more tilted… But I am really happy with the whole hybrid creation Smile You should give it a try!

I love that this combines my passion for stamping and computers! And I don’t own this Designer Paper “in real” craft supplies, but had purchased the digital download called “Woodland Walk”, which was perfect for what I wanted it for!
