A Birthday Share

Yesterday I had my downline meeting and it was perfect timing for some birthday celebrations. Madeline's birthday was THAT day and Nikki's the day before! (November is a pretty good month, cause mine was at the beginning of the month - so we had reason times 3 for cupcakes *grin*)

Anyway, I wanted to share what I made for my girls as gift. I stamped them each a big candle with the "Season of Friendship" stamp set and kept it in Fall theme, so they could have it out NOW. Here it is:

Just a quick refresher on how to stamp on candles:

Take Tissue Paper (that you've pre-cut in size to fit your candle) and stamp images (here I have used colored ink, but you can also stamp outline images in Basic Black ink, color in with Markers. Consider to use lighter colors, so it won't be too dark and you can still see the image).

Then apply small dabs of glue stick and wrap the tissue around the candle smoothly. Then wrap wax paper tightly around the candle and tape in place (forms a wax paper sleeve around the candle). Candle is then heated and rolled (don't stay in one spot too long, just keep rolling) until tissue absorbs into the wax and disappears. Don't overheat! You don't want the candle to actually melt and run. Remove wax paper. You get a real smooth surface to the candle with the wax paper wrap. If some of the tissue can still be seen, just wrap in wax paper and repeat the heating process a little more.

To get the aged look on the hardware, I used the silver one that we now have in the catalog, sanded it some and then sponged on some basic brown ink, and heat set it. It came out pretty cool. The twill tape ribbon is also died with basic brown ink...

And here is the card I made for the girls:

I hate that I didn't take a great photo before I gave them away, because you can't see just how shiny the butterfly is - it really is gorgeous in real! I had stamped the butterfly in black StazOn onto glossy cardstock and colored in with daubers and ink from inkpads. While still wet, I dipped it into clear embossing powder and embossed - repeated that 2 more times... The card itself used the Top Note die...

Enjoy your Saturday!
