Guest Designer Series, part 13

Sandra Bain is the master of journals and is here today to conclude the guest designer series with one of her paper-bag journals ... which she donated and we'll draw for a lucky winner among the ladies that helped out while I was gone.

Thank you all for sharing your creativity with us. I so enjoyed seeing all the projects!

Here is Sandra's journal:

Each page is decorated and has lots of different elements. So I shot a little video like a little walk through so you can get an idea

She wanted you to know that a project like this is perfect to use up Designer Series papers, ribbon and all sorts of embellishments and odds and ends...

I think I said I would take additional photos... but I officially have run out of time before I left for my trip...

And I couldn't resist to share the photo below... She's had the cutest little helper on her desk! Jerry is snuggled up against the Stampin' Up! ink pads LOL

Guest Designer Series, part 12

Joy Anderson is back today to share another card with us! Great color combo!

Hi, Everyone.

I have a friend I wanted to send a card of encouragement.  She’s not one for flowers or bling, so I made this card.  For the background I used the water color pencils and overlapped the colors in the middle to get the blended look.  I used SU! Markers to color in the greeting from Rooted in Nature and then cut out each phrase so I could stagger them under the image.  I used a black pen to draw the border echoing the line art image.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Beautiful You, Rooted in Nature
Paper: Thick Whisper White Cardstock, Melan Mambo Cardstock
Ink Pad: Basic Black
SU! Markers: Melan Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Only Orange(retired)
Other: SU! Mini Dimensionals, Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, Black Pen, Water Brush, Stamparatus

Guest Designer Series, part 11

Robin Aho also made another card for us while I am gone. Look at this pretty "old" and "new" combo:

A few words from Robin:

Combining Old & New...I am in love with the Perennial Essence Suite!!  The designer series paper was my first purchase from the new catalog.  The new elements are Perennial Essence DSP and Vellum cardstock and the flower centers.  The old elements are the Fun Flower punch and the Beautiful Bunch stamp set.  The color elements are blackberry bliss, petal pink and crushed curry.  I hope you like my latest creation in honor of my best friend!

Guest Designer Series, part 10

Theresa Wade is back  with another cute project for us! She also did a some "CASE"-ing LOL

Tag Card:
  • Around the Corner Stamp Set pg 157  (sorry the one image is a little blurry)
  • Ink used: Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Bermuda Bay.
  • Copied from sample card pictured at the bottom of page.  I didn't have the DSP paper so I used one of the stamps to make the repeated pattern on the pink paper.  Another way to use the 3x3 enveopes.  Used Story Label punch, folded in half to make tag.

Guest Designer Series, part 9

So this blog entry is collaboration of sorts... LOL During our Stamp-a-Stack we had one lady score her white card base at the wrong mark... I gave her a new piece and a little later Julie Lassalle asked meif she could play around with the piece I put to the side. SURE!

Here is what she came up with:

This is a great example for "limited supplies" and that you can re-purpose most everything in crafting!

It doesn't show in this photo, but the card front was shimmer sprayed!!!

Guest Designer Series, part 6

Today Robin Aho is sharing her talent with us.  Here are a few words from her:

I needed a quick birthday card for my niece and I had not used the Birthday Statements stamp set yet so here is what I created.

I reversed embossed the base so the detail of the Country Floral embossing folder showed on the inside of the card.  I like the look of soft water colors so I used my Aqua Painters to color the flowers and balloons details.  The color combo is Night of Navy, Gray Granite, Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron and Mossy Meadow.  To add a little bling to the front I embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder and added a few rhinestones.

Inside view:

Oh and she had made the same card but different colors... I decided to let you guys see it too:

Guest Designer Series, part 4

From our guest designer Joy Anderson:

Hi, Everyone!

Today I used the sunflower from Painted Harvest to make a summer-y birthday card.  I love how the sunflower pops on the black&white background giving it a 3-D appearance.  To add even more dimension I used Stampin' Up! Dimensionals to pop up the flower layers and a few mini glue dots to bend the greeting banner.  The normal brown center just didn’t feel right so I found a black button in my stash that completed the card.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a chance for creative play today.

Joy

Guest Designer Series, part 3

Our next guest designer is Julie Lassalle. She played around with one of my favorite techniques and is giving you a step-by-step below so you guys can give it a try too. Here is her lovely card:

Pool Party card stock was cut into a 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" piece. Mint Macroon and Pool Party inks were "stamped" onto clear block E into random patterns to avoid harsh lines. Ink was then spritzed with rubbing alcohol with a few drops of the Champagne Mist shimmer paint, from a Stampin' Spritzer. Clear block was then tilted back and forth to run the ink and further blur any harsh lines. Scrap of Pool Party card stock was then placed on top of block and pressed down to transfer ink to card stock. Carefully remove from block, set aside and let dry.

When dry, stamped paper was trimmed to 4" x 3" to avoid any blank edges. Images from Enjoy Life set were stamped in Night of Navy from left to right on bottom of stamped paper. Image was stamped three times bringing the stamp down each time it was stamped, to create a "stepped' effect. Sentiment and small butterfly were stamped in upper right hand corner, and a small butterfly was stamped in the upper left hand corner. This scrap of paper was adhered to a 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" sheet of Pool Party card stock. These pieces were then adhered to Night of Navy card stock cut to 8 1/2" x 5" and scored at 4 3/8" to allow for a shorter front to the card. The bottom front edge of the card was then torn to create a "frayed" look.

Supplies Used:
Pool Party card stock
Night of Navy card stock
Pool Party ink pad
Mint Macaron ink pad
Night of Navy ink pad
Clear Blocks, D and E
Shimmer Paint, Champagne Mist
Stampin Spritzer
Enjoy Life stamp set

Guest Designer Series, part1

Today is the first day of our guest designer series and Gwen share some great projects with us! This is what she wanted us to know:

This is a sampler and tile set I made for a church charity auction.  Picture frame was purchased with a distressed look, but you could easily DIY to match your paper colors.  The tiles were purchased from a local home improvement center.   My theme was of course the beach, but the sky’s the limit when it comes to choices in stamp sets, inks, and papers.  Hope you have a great time creating your own little piece of paradise!

And a close up of the frame:

Guest Designer Series, #4 - Star of Light

Today's guest designer card was created by Julie Lassalle who is part of my Monday Stamp Club. She told me that she was thinking "Christmas in July" so she created a card to get a head start on her Christmas cards. What a smart thing to day! Maybe this will inspire some of you guys to get started early too?

Here is Julie's card:

Tips from Julie:

Pool Party measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and folded in half
Night of Navy was cut to 5" x 4"

The "star swirl" from Star of Light stamp set was stamped in versa mark ink on Night of Navy. Copper embossing powder was applied and then heat set.
Greeting from Star of Light stamp set was stamped in versa mark in ink lower left hand corner, copper embossing powder applied and then heat set.
Star/Snowflake was stamped in Night of Navy on Pool Party scrap paper and then die cut using the large star outline from the Starlight Thinlits Die set. This stamped and cut image was applied to the navy layer and positioned with some of the "star swirl" showing around the star. (Image could be popped up with dimensionals, but I was out, so I just adhered to the layer.)
Navy layer was adhered to Pool Party background.
Inside of card was left blank for a personal message (or another stamp saying could be added inside as well.)
