A new Technique perhaps?

While I was working on my leadership swap, I was going to emboss on Vellum Cardstock using VersaMark ink and Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder. But then I thought, It'll be easier if I used colored ink instead. So I used my silver Encore Pad… AND found the results to be stunning! The embossed image turned metallic red! Soooo maybe I created a new technique by accident? Either way, I call it Faux Metallic Embossing…

Since I didn’t get the cards completely done before I left for Houston, I had to do a couple of small things there one night

Have stamps – will travel… LOL!

So you guys, why don’t you give this new technique a try?

Fun at Leadership

I am having a ton of fun at leadership and participated in one swap yesterday already. It was a “wrapper” swap, meaning sharing an idea on how wrap an item.

Today I am only going to share the one I made and then when back home, I will post the ones I’ve received… little by little…

Here is a group shot of some of mine displayed with the items I’ve used and showing the treat that I’ve put 3 of inside:

Here is a close-up of my Party Popper/Cracker, which I made with the Envelope Punch Board and Simply Scored:

If you look close enough above, you can make out a sneak preview of an upcoming Sale-a-Bration item

Here is the short how to:

DSP  = 6 1/2 by 8

- Place DSP into Simply Scored horizontally, then score at 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2, 5 1/2, 6 and 6 1/2
- rotate so it's in Portrait and score at 1 1/2, 3, 4 1/2 and 6

Now use Envelope Punch Board, fold back first long section, align at 2 and punch. Repeat on all other folds, then flip paper over align again at 2 and repeat…

I always tie one end first so I can fill in my items with out falling out. However, on this larger version of the popper, the ends will have an opening.

Granted, it’s not big enough for  my kitkat bars to fall out… but I just don’t like that look and decided I needed covers!

I simply used the postage punch and punched 2 squares from the coordinating DSP. I then folded it into half, added a dimensional on the edge of 2 opposite sides, opened back up and added to inside right over the hole

Butterflies–do I need to say more?

I LOVE butterfly images…the shape, the colors… it just makes me happy.

The card that I am going to show you today, was my favorite card from leadership!

I think you understand why. It has THREE butterflies:

This is such a great sample that shows how well our 2 current butterfly punches work together!

This cute card just makes me want to smile. I don’t  know if it’s because of the flying cherries, the fresh color combo or because of the red glimmer paper. Regardless I think it’s a cute Birthday card, I got to show you from my leadership stash.

Punches and Texture–a Must!

Today I am back with another swap card from leadership. I think the combination of texture and shapes is what makes this simple card so fun to look at… or maybe it’s the colors?

I really like how the creator layered the scalloped circles behind the circle, it makes such an interesting focal point. And then of course, I LOVE that the texture is also inked. With a detailed embossing folder like this, it’s so easy to do. Texture the cardstock, remove from folder and then pull your ink pad right over the textured cardstock.

Well since the technique on the card below is called Triple Time Stamping, I thought I should announce the stamp set 3 times.

This great card was created  by my friend Susan Barron. She made it for our shoe box swap at leadership. Great color combo! But what I like the most on this card… it’s how she added one of our HUGE rhinestones in the center of the button! Very neat!

I think it’s a pretty cool way to use up strips of Designer Series papers, don’t you?

I love all the texture and borders on this card as well. And then of course there is a butterfly, can’t go wrong there
