Oversized Birthday Card

Today is my Birthday and my dear husband not only made my birthday card himself, but it also is “slightly” larger than the usual card :-)

See for yourself:

Rob's card

And the inside:

rob's card open

…with “built-in” gift! Love it! How creative… he stamped, colored, punched and used ribbon!

He said he couldn’t find an envelope big enough though… Yeah, good luck with that LOL.

Thanks Honey – you’ve made my day :-)

My hubby the stamper!

LOL – I know he is going to hate me just for that title alone! BUT I have to share his great creation!

See, when he had his surgery, I challenged the ladies to make him Get Well Cards to cheer him up. You saw all the gorgeous cards he received in this post!

Now of course, while those cards started to come in, I teased Rob that he had to make Thank You cards. Boy was I surprised when he said, that he was already thinking about it…

So one day last week he got to working. I just had to show him how to use the big shot to cut the leaves and next he asked me how to texture them… He even asked for the sponge to add ink to them and the card!

Here is his creation:

Robs card

I think he did an awesome job! Maybe he needs to sign up to be a Stampin’ Up! demo when he retires from the Military next year ?! NOT! Can’t have competition like that :-)

We have a winner!

Remember, after Rob had his surgery last month I challenged you guys to make him Get Well Cards for the chance to win something Stampin’ Up! related! AND we had lots of cards come in! They were ALL just wonderful, and I am glad I wasn’t the one that had to make the decision, it would have been too hard for me. But not for Rob, he very easily picked his favorite!

This is the winning card:

Nancy S.

This card was created by Nancy S. and she won the Hostess Level 1 set “Northern Hearts” from the Holiday Mini Catalog! Enjoy playing with it!

Of course I don’t want to hold out on all of the other gorgeous entries. But there are quite a few, so I’ve put them together in a little slide show for you:

I have one more Card that I need to point out in full size though, because it cracked me up. This card is made by my friend Joan:

Joan B._1

And if you know her, you totally appreciate her great sense of humor, which shows in this card. Love the inside:

Thank you all for making Rob (and me) smile with the flood of Get Well cards!

Anniversary Card

Well Monday was a very special day. Not only did I reach my goal and earned the SU cruise for next year, which goes to Alaska… but it was also my Anniversary (17 years)! So double YAY:-)

Since I was so busy with work I almost forgot to make a card for my sweetheart… Tsk, Tsk!

So when he called me that he was on his way home, I literally jumped to my feet and headed towards my stamp table with a mission…

I had stamped all day for “work” and had used an easy layout, so I used it for Rob’s Anniversary card too. And I didn’t have to think much about the stamp set… since we just came back from the Southern Caribbean, it was just natural to reach for “Tropical Party”.

Here is my little card:

tropical party_anniversary

Colors used: Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry and white for CS. Basic Brown for the stamp.

Have a wonderful Friday!

Clear-Mount Stamps Storage

Hi guys… just a quick post today. Since I’ve worked some now with our new clear-mount stamps, I thought I’d pass on a neat tip that I found online somewhere. I can’t remember where, but think it’s a great idea!

When you get your new clear-mount stamps and you’ve assembled them all, don’t throw away the “negative” foam piece that’s left over!

I now peel off the protective wax paper and then press it onto the inside of the stamp case. This way I have a “frame” with little spots to put my individual stamps back into. See:

clear mount case

This will:

A) help me keep track that I really have all stamps in the
    case

B) keep the stamps stuck better to the case

So when you get your next case of new clear-mount stamps, give it a try and see if you like it too…

Tote-ally Tess Retirement

One of my friends decided to retire recently, so of course I wanted to make her a card to congratulate her.

Since my stamp set “Tote-ally Tess” hadn’t seen any ink yet, I thought it was perfect…

When you look at this card, you may notice a similarity to a prior post, because I’ve used the layout again. What can I say… it’s a nice an easy one, very versatile!

Here is my card:

tote_ally Tess

I think the card turned out cute, and I have to say I REALLY like this color combo of “Not quite Navy”  and “Certainly "Celery”! See the bling on her blouse? Love that new satin ribbon too!

This stamp set has more potential than I thought at first, I’ll have use it lots more!

Enjoy your weekend…

New Blog Layout with “My Digital Studio”!

Hi guys!  If you are on Google Reader or e-mail updates, you need to come by the blog and check out my new blog layout.

I’ve used the new “My Digital Studio” by Stampin’ Up! to create this fun background and header! Isn’t this just too cool?!

You see “My Digital Studio” is not just “another” scrapbook software, but it really is a “Digital Paper-Crafting Solution”… meaning you can do LOTS of things with it, like: Create Scrapbooks, Cards, Calendars, ,make your own Stationary, Newsletter, Photo cards, Displays, movies, DVD’s, and use on a blog…

I have been having way too much fun with it as you can see and have gotten my first photo book back and love it. If you are local and would like to see it, come by and I’ll gladly show it off :-)

Also don’t forget to check out the Deal of the Week for this last week… You can find it in the right column!

Have a great day…

Friends

Ahhhh, it's SO good to have friends! Especially in the time of health issues...
See my friend Joan usually comes to visit me when ever I had to go to the hospital. But this time I had to go to Atlanta and that's too far to just pop in and say Hi.
So she fixed me up Care Box and brought it by before I left!
It was too thoughtful and sweet of her and I had to share with you!

Here is the box:

box

The box already is so pretty! But wait till you see what she put inside:

group

A gift for EACH DAY that I was scheduled to be at Emory and some extras! All I could say was WOW! She put so much work and thought into this...

Here are some close up pictures:

See all the bags were decorated with paper flowers on a wire... Since I am posting this before I left and I didn't open my surprise bags yet... I was just "feeling" the bag below and I think it has a glass dish with marbles in it so I can stick the flowers into it!

I am so very touched by all the well wishes and friends, and hope you all know how much I appreciate YOU!
Thanks again Joan, for this special gesture!

Today is Saturday, and I am really hoping to come home. But as you know sometimes, things can go different as expected. So if I am not...it will be a couple of days before I am back posting here. I will update you as soon as I can :-)

Be back soon...

Here fishy, fishy, fishy... !

I just can't contain myself - LOL. Just wait until you look at the card!

OK so I got to play with the Sweet Treat Cups and the Sweet Centers Stamp Set and REALLY love them. The card that I made for stamp club I can't share ... because well, it's THEIR privilege :-)

BUT I have something.... I bought several different snacks to put in those containers and one of them were Gummy Worms...

My husband is going on a weekend fishing trip tomorrow and since he's worked so very hard and long hours I wanted to do something nice for him. I made a snack bag for on the way and put a note in it :-) Of course NOT just a plain note!

Here is the card:

fishies

And once the treats are removed, the card looks like this:

fishies2

I've learned about this little trick from Gretchen Barron. You make a "lid" for the treat cup that is either a 2 1/2 inch circle or square, fill cup with treats and close with lid. Then the cup is attached to inside of card with a few glue dots! How neat is that!?

Sorry, the stamp sets are retired but they worked so great for this occasion!

I can't wait for Rob to come home so I can give him the treat bag :-)

A note of Thanks

I know I have been gone for a whole week... not gone in real just absent from my blog!

I don't want to neglect you all and needed to tell you that I am still here! I was just really busy, still am! I am working on classes, Stamp-a-Stack, Convention projects and trying to prepare the August Stamp Club ahead of time. Some of you may know that I am going to be gone the first week of August. This is our annual Stampin' Up! Convention in Salt Lake City. It's always great and I will try to keep you all posted via facebook to twitter to the blog...

Anyway today I just wanted to post a real quick and easy card. I needed a Note Card to send along with paperwork to Germany, and this is what I came up with:

circle circus thanks

The Gnome Saga

O.K. this is a post for my friends that know my dogs. But don't worry, there is some stamping going on too!

See our next door neighbors Christa and Ramon, just LOVE Annie. And every time we are invited over, we have to bring her along or Christa will pout :-) So of course Annie has come to love her too. Matter of fact, I almost have to put her on a leash when I open my front door so she won't run over to their door every time!

Well the other day Christa had called me and said to come to her door quick... of course I had Annie tag along... what I didn't foresee was that Sam AND Maggie followed. So picture this: She opens the door, Annie runs in and upstairs! Followed by Sam, up he went! Maggie being the oldest and not really close to others... followed anyway, but only into the downstairs entrance... I think she got spooked by Christa, took a shortcut under the stairs and in the process ran over the Garden Gnome... AND beheaded him. YIKES!!!!

Christa just laughed and had no problem with it. (She was even able to glue it back together) But I felt sooooooo soooo bad that I went online and ordered a new but different one for them to replace. The one I picked will be perfect for the entrance:

bench

But back to the main reason of this post! So I got the gnome yesterday and needed to make a card for Maggie to give to Christa :-)

Here it is - notice the top note fabric piece:

gnome1

Of course the head of this one swivels too:

gnome2

And the inside:

gnome inside

See Maggie's Signature paw print?  I've inked up her paw with VersaMark and "stamped" the CS, then embossed it with clear EP... Poor Thing, NOT!

Anyway, nothing fancy - just wanted to share!

New Paper Storage

Well my friend Cindy P. asked me the other day if I knew someone that might want to buy her wire paper storage system. She had bought it a while back when our first LSS closed and now she is re-organizing and doesn't have room for it anymore.

I told her I would buy it from her and if I can't make it work I know I would find someone else that would want it.

Well yesterday she brought it by - it has room for 8 1/2 x 11 AND 12 x12 CS! So exiting...  And instead of finishing for the scrapbook class (which is today) I started out to see if her (now mine) floor wire rack would come apart - and it did :-)  Soooo, I tore apart my old paper storage system. Which contained of THE different size paper slot systems.  It was rather cluttered and I had to store 2 colors of CS in one slot to make those work.

After a fairly long time of working on that, re-organizing adjacent storage areas (to find room for other things that were sitting on top of the old paper cubicles), I am happy to report that I now have an awesome system!

See here:

DSC00001

(just for those that wonder how I store 12x12 CS... on the left side of the wooded cube shelf, I have another floor model wire rack for 12x12 CS only - I've had that for years now... thanks Kate!)

Let's see just how long I can keep that desk that neat :-)

OK - I better get going to cut the supplies for the class this evening...

Enjoy your day!

Snow in GA

Can you believe it? We actually had snow yesterday! It was exciting even for me that grew up with lots of snow in Germany.

So I took some pictures and thought I'd share them with you guys:

Sick Sock Monkey!

Today I want to share a card with you that I made for a husband for one of my customers. He had just undergone knee replacement surgery on BOTH knees!

So because of him, our Sock Monkey had to undergo the same surgery :-(  Poor Guys!

See for yourself:

sock monkey_sick
I've used gauze on his legs to make it look more real - here is a close up shot:

monkey legs

Now let's just hope that both are going to recover rather quickly...

When I posted the card earlier I totally forgot to post the photo of the little treat bag too. I thought a little chocolate might help the healing process... It's nothing special, just a bag topper made from the "Top Note" die and DSP:

Limited Wall Space

Today I thought I'd share with you how I've solved my problem of limited Wall Space... I've seen so many times now the wonderful storage solution of hanging all the punches on like towel bars on a wall. BUT in my stamp room there is no open Wall left, especially not at my work station! That whole wall is windows! So I asked my hubby if we could still do that sort of and we DID!

He used 2 curtain rods for each row of punches. One for the punch to sit on and the other a little further in to lean on, since we didn't have the wall to hold them up...

I totally LOVE my new punch storage "wall" - Here it is:

What color are you?

This is not stamp related but fun. I came across a personality test sort of and thought it would be fun to take. I am posting my results below - you can even take the test too and see if you agree...

Take this test!
Your color is black. The color of night. Serene and mysterious, black conjures up images of elegant evening gowns, dashing tuxedos, and gleaming limousines. Traditionally a symbol of success, black also represents power and an uncompromising demand for perfection. Not surprisingly, you tend to set challenging goals for yourself and do whatever it takes to achieve them — your strength of character is second to none. This unfaltering determination, along with your natural elegance, impresses people. But keep in mind that your personality might be intimidating to some. Try to temper your demanding side with a little softness — trust us, it won't kill you. Overall, though, black is the color of professionalism and achievement, which means it's clearly the color for you.
