Today I played with some retiring items and came up with this quick little card:

I think 1 or 2 years ago the color combo yellow and grey was very in. And when I first used it then, I really liked it. So today, I re-visited it!

Here is my fast card for you:

Even though I aimed for a "clean" look with this card, I couldn't resist and sponged the white banner in Smoky Slate. It gives a soft look...

Quick Card

Today I just needed my card to be something fast. So I reached for my trusty little box of "This is the Life" cards from Project Life and came up with this:

This card sort of has a modern but still whimsical look to and it hardly took any time to make. BTW, the piece that came from the Project Life card pack is the full layer with the stripes on the bottom and the white area on top, where I stamped "thanks" onto it.

Amazing Birthday

For some reason I've had that urge to make a card with an owl on it for the last couple of days. So while I was thinking what card to make for today's share... I just gave in!

And I have a confession to make... the greeting stamp set "Amazing Birthday" was inked up today for the very first time... since I've gotten it a convention last year LOL. I am starting to like now though...it only took me a little while to warm up to it "grin"... I've stamped it a second time in Rich Razzleberry ink onto white cardstock, so I could paper piece it.

New Product Review - Precision Base Plate

In the upcoming Holiday catalog, Stampin' Up! is offering a new tool to us. It is called "Precision Base Plate". And it is used for those thinlits with intricate cuts... At convention (I watched some online) it was said that it should eliminate all those wax paper/dryer sheet sandwiches. You know me, I like to try out these things for you so we can see. And today, I did just that.

So in short, I think it worked pretty well with this detailed thinlit! Of course I am still going to test it with the word die cuts and such... and will report then!

But here is a project I made with the Butterfly, can't let it go to waste now, can we?!

Since I've use a 4 by 6 card from the Project Life kit, I had to adjust my card accordingly and made it 6 1/2 by 4 1/2 when closed. And that called for a custom made envelope. I used our new lightweight envelope paper for that. We have that in our new in-colors and the neutrals in the catalog. Gotta get the neutrals still!

A sunny day with project life

I could really get used to those quick cards! And as you might have guessed.. Project Life cards are at it again!

The card had already the circle and dots printed on it, so I only stamped the sun on it, and then embellished a little bit. That's it! Soooo easy! I like the Bermuda Bay in combination of the Crushed Curry... this card makes me think of the beach.

Project Life meets Six-Sided Sampler

... and produced a fun and modern card, I'd say!

Lately, I really tend to like cards with contrast... so when I saw this colorful sheet in the Project Life collection, I knew I had to pair it with black and white ;-)

I also love how easy all sorts of different tools and materials in our catalog pair. The "Elegant Dots" Embossing folder seems to have the same pattern as the printed sheet. How cool is that!

Oh and don't forget to put some light cardstock on the inside of a dark card, so you can write your message/note...

It's nothing fancy... I usually just stamp a matching image, but used punches instead this time.

Stamp Etching

Today I am sharing a "technique" with you that I've learned about at convention last year ... in July! I KNOW... almost a year ago. I just don't know where the time goes! Lydia Fiedler an awesome artist and Stampin' Up! demo, presented this on stage and I knew I had to try it.

Here is my first try at it:

I totally love the look of the image, and think I didn't do too bad for my first try!

It's really simple... basically, you stamp your line image in black ink on either white or colored cardstock and then use a marker and add little line in a flicking motion. You do that to the top and bottom of each petal, and leave the middle section un-touched. The portions of the petals in the stamped image that look sort of folded over are colored in solid in black. BTW, the Project Life Markers are GREAT for this!!!

Give it a try, it's way easier than you might think it is!

BTW - I used our THICK whisper white CS as a layer of the card and textured it on the regular level... and the fibers did not crack! Another PLUS for our new CS! LOVE it!

Sprinkles of Life for the Man

Sooooo - I still have the Project Life card kit on my desk and keep looking back through it... and just had to make another card with it! It's so darn convenient!

This time I used the stamp set "Sprinkles of Life" with it and made a manly Birthday card... Speaking of the "Sprinkles of Life" set, it is this years Ronald McDonald House Charities set. What does that mean, you ask... Well, for each set sold, Stampin' Up! will donate $3 to the charity (see page 189 of current catalog). What a great cause... so if you would like to do good while stamping, consider adding this stamp set to your next order... or get on as a gift for someone. That would make it 2 good cuases ;-)

Project Life not just for scrapbooking!

I have to make a confession, which most likely will not come as a shocker to most of you. Grin! I am not a scrapbooker... sorry! However,  I have collected some of the neat Project Life items AND I will try to work on some soon...

On the incentive trip one of our pillow gits was a Project Life card kit plus embellishment kit. It's the one called "This is the Life" and can be found on page 146 of the catalog. To see all the different pages, please follow the link to the store, click here.

So I was looking through the kit and some of the cards just screamed "make a card"...well, I just had to obey!

And what a FAST card this was! Those kits are a real gem, I tell ya! Oh and let me share a tool that I've used to determine the color combo. Because clearly it's not something I would come up with LOL. But I LOVE it! Since we don't have the color coach anymore, I started to re-visit the website called "Colorlab". I have a button on the right panel of my blog.  I simply selected "Rich Razzleberry" and "Whisper White" and then clicked on "Search. I had a list of different combinations that have been used before...

That's where I spotted Tempting Turquoise... I just omitted the others that were listed in the same row...and found it a fresh look, yet pleasing to the eye. ...   Give it a try!   I will continue to use it and remind you to do so as well....
