It's a good day!

It's a good day when a card comes together fairly quickly... LOL. I couldn't resist to use the sentiment in a sentence... It's a great greeting, I think !

Here is my quick card:

I wasn't sure if you could see the gliltter on the Watermelon Wonder Flower.. so here is a close up:

That was simply done with the clear wink of Stella Glitter Brush. That brush comes SO handy!

Oh and a little tip: I used the liquid glue, put on back of petals of flower and assembled all on the silicone sheet. I let it dry on it. Then gently peeled the whole flower off... very easy and no burn marks from a hot glue gun...

Short box and no stamping

Today I am sharing a quick short Christmas box with you that I made to put a little ring dish into. And I was so thrilled that it worked perfectly!

Here is the end result:

I made to box with the gift box punch board using the 12x12 Kraft sheets. It used a sheet 9x9 and I had extra to make the band that goes around for the closure.. Once assembled, I simple decorated the sides with Designer Series paper. So easy!

The Poinsettia was punched with the Festive Flower Punch from red glimmer paper. And I put it together using hot glue and my silicone mat..

Here is a little collage for you:

Poinsettia or Sunflower?

Well.... it can be both... Or really any flower you want it to be! Yep, it's the new "Festive Flower Builder Punch" from the Occasions catalog that I am talking about... You can find it on page 31 and on the front cover... Very pretty as poinsettia and the star too.

But I had sunflowers on my mind! Here is what I made:

I started out with a 1-1/4" circle punch and then added a row of the larger petals and then 2 or 3 rows of the smaller petals. And the very top has 2 of the double petals crossed over each other and 2 of the small fillers in Early Espresso. I did spritz some ink/alcohol mix on the flower for some subtle speckling... It is so subtle that it doesn't show up in the picture. LOL   And of course I did some sponging too.

I used 2 different textures on the card and like it! It's something I always forget to do...

Something To Say

Today's card is one of those that has been building in my mind for a while and I pretty happy how it "translated"!

The "ribbon" on the bottom is not ribbon at all, but cardstock strips cut very think...and applied like ribbon. I did that because I don't have ribbon in "Watermelon Wonder" yet. And I needed somthing across that empty space.

I am sorry that I've used 2 retired items on this card... the Naturals White CS... which can be replaced with our thick white CS! And in place of the Modern Label punch, I think you could use the Washi Label punch...

Paper Flowers

Hi!  Guest blogger Nance' Seifert here.

I love making paper flowers for cards. I thought I would show you how to make them using punches. Start the flower by punching a circular base using green card stock. I used the Cog punch for my circle (retired). I punched the petals from Daffodil Delight card stock using the Blossom Petals Builder punch (retired). Use a darker color ink and sponge the ends of the petals that will be toward the center. I used Pumpkin Pie ink. Gently score down the middle of the petal with the score tool and fold in half to shape.

Glue the petals side by side around the circle.  Do the same thing for the next two rows, alternating the petals.
To make the center, punch a small circle out of Early Espresso card stock and glue to the center of the flower.  To make the center more realistic, I used the distress tool on the card stock and made a pile of paper fluff.  I glued the fluff to the small circle.  I used a broader shaped punch for the leaves and glued them to the bottom of the flower.

I used Whisper White card stock for my card and embossed it using the "Framed Tulips" embossing folder (retired).I stamped the ferns from the "Butterfly Basics" stamp set using Mellow Moss ink (retired). The longer leaves were cut using the Sizzlit "Little Leaves" die. They were glued to the bottom of the flower.  The flower was placed on the card and secured with dimensionals.

The little butterfly from "Butterfly Basics" was stamped with "Baja Breeze", punched with the "Bitty Butterfly" punch and adhered to the card using dimensionals.  The greeting is from "Sincere Salutations" (retired).  It was stamped directly on the Whisper White card using Early Espresso ink.

This is a fun technique.  It is amazing how many different flowers you can making using punches and colored card stock.  Give it a try!
